On January 30th Rose McGowan's Brave was released. This was two years in the making, at that time Rose and I had worked together only once and she had just shaved her head for the very first time. What I love about Rose is that she forever will have a punk spirit that challenges what is feed to society as to what we are "supposed" to do. She shaved her head and texted me a photo of what she did and I immediately said lets shoot. We shot this punk / aliens 3 Ripley inspired story and at the end I asked her to shave her head more for the last shot. She told me I can't shave my head any more or I'll be skin bald.........YOU SHAVE YOUR HEAD! so without hesitation the make up artist Ashley Gomila shaved hair off my head and put MY HAIR all over Rose's neck and back and the rest is history. I am forever grateful for this moment because everything about these images are authentic. Rose told me that these are the most authentic photographs ever taken of her and that they are going to be the book. I just finished reading the book and it is such a powerful statement of overcoming trauma and becoming Brave despite being scared to. At this moment, I am proud of myself and this book cover reinforces the proof that great things will happen if I continue to believe in myself and work hard towards what I want. Such a feeling of gratitude to contribute to something that will help others be Brave. Since then we have shot so much more and I cannot wait to share what else we have created together.
